Bolthouse boycott over

Bolthouse Farms no longer facing gay boycottBolthouse Farms, producer of juices and smoothies and packaged carrots, is no longer the target of a gay boycott.

When William Bolthouse Jr. donated $100,000 to support an anti-gay initiative in California, Californians Against Hate turned on the company urging others to follow suit. The "Don't Buy Bolthouse" campaign was born.

"Why should we spend our hard-earned money buying Bolthouse Farms' products only to have it used against us?" the group suggested in a letter to Bolthouse's Andre Radandt.

Well, the battle is over. According to Californians Against Hate, Bolthouse "has provided us with a compelling perspective which clearly demonstrates the separation between Bolthouse Farms and . . . its founder, William Bolthouse."

This "provides us with confidence that Bolthouse Farms is committed to working productively with the [lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender] community" the statement continued.

Power to the people!
