Former porn star making waves in Hollywood

Fremantle Media North America, the producer of shows like "American Idol" and "The Price is Right,"  has named a former gay adult film star as Vice-President of Casting and Talent.

Working under the name Jordan Young, Billy Kemp was popular in the 90’s and even roomed with iconic gay porn director, Chi Chi La Rue. In fact, it was LaRue who wanted to make him a star.

“I saw his picture and thought he was cute,” LaRue recalls. “I thought, there are no Asian boys who are considered stars. So I decided that I was gonna make him a star. We hit it off immediately. I think it was fate that brought us together.”

He ended up working in, and even writing for, several films. He can be seen shaking his booty in "Our Trespasses," "The Ryker Files," "Lip Lock" and "Ambush."

Kemp admitted back in 1997 he was hoping to break into mainstream media. “I’d like to ‘go legit,’ ” he said, “although I don't consider what I’m doing not legit. I don't deny it. I’m comfortable with it. It’s a form of media that’s out there; it’s just not as widely accepted.”

He started as a casting exec for shows like "Temptation Island" and "Elimidate," and has worked his way up from there. And though we think his talent is best suited for porn -- just being selfish! -- we're sure he'll do an amazing job.
