Outed politician outs opponent

Politics, on any level, can get pretty ugly.

In Glendale, California, city council candidate Mike Mohill (left) and incumbent John Drayman have both accused the other of being gay in hopes of swaying voters.

Last week, Drayman told a council meeting that Mohill, married to a woman, was actually a homosexual and had been arrested a couple times in the 1980s for soliciting sex in a public place.

This week, Mohill responded to the accusations. He is gay. He was arrested for having gay sex in a public space, and his wife knows about his past and his homosexuality.

"[We maintain a] marriage in which we share a powerful affection and respect for each other," he explained.

And then he fired back that Drayman had no business taking things to such a personal level, considering the man was gay himself (a claim Drayman denies).

Are there no serious issues these two could be focusing on?
