Alec Baldwin fired from MSNBC over gay slur

Alex Baldwin fired from MSNBCUp Late with Alec Baldwin has been canceled. MSNBC made the announcement yesterday, claiming the split with Baldwin was mutual.

"We are jointly confirming that Up Late will not continue on MSNBC," Baldwin and the network said in a statement. "This is a mutual parting and we wish Alec all the best."

The decision follows a recent incident in which Baldwin called a photographer a 'cocksucking fag.' Initially, MSNBC decided to put the show on a two-week hiatus. However, many LGBT organizations pressured the news channel to drop Baldwin completely.

Baldwin insisted that he called the photographer a 'cocksucking fathead.' Video of the incident seems to indicate otherwise.

However, he did apologize for using the word 'cocksucker.' "Rich Ferraro from @glaad informs me that c'sucker is an anti-gay epithet. In which case I apologize and will retire it from my vocabulary," he tweeted.
